Work Directly On Screen
The Cintiq family of interactive pen displays combines the advantages of an LCD monitor with the natural feel and superior performance of Wacom′s patented, professional pen technology. When working on a Cintiq, you′ll gain all the benefits of working digitally in a creative experience that replicates traditional media.
Cintiq Interactive Pen Displays
Cintiq interactive pen displays enable creative professionals to work naturally and intuitively using Wacom′s pressure- and tilt-sensitive, professional pen technology directly on the surface of a high-performance LCD display.
Cintiqs are designed to replicate the traditional experience of working with conventional tools such as pens, markers, brushes, canvas and paper, photographic exposure retouching tools, or sculpting tools and clay, while at the same time allowing users to work with all of the power and flexibility of advanced creative software applications.
Wacom offers four options for working directly on screen: the high-definition Cintiq 24HD touch, Cintiq 24HD, Cintiq 22HD touch, Cintiq 22HD and the compact Cintiq 13HD.
Cintiqs are used in nearly every creative workflow. To learn more about the advantage of Cintiq in common creative activities, please select your area of interest.
Cintiq for Sketching, Drawing, and Painting »
A Natural Pen Experience
Whether you are sketching a groundbreaking new product, creating detailed Illustrations, or painting game art, working with the pressure- and tilt-sensitive professional pen directly on the screen of a Cintiq is an intuitive and focused creative experience. The professional pen glides smoothly across the surface of the screen and the display can be adjusted and positioned in a variety of different ways to emulate the working position of a drafting table, easel or sketchbook.
Traditional Artistic Effects
The Cintiq professional pen is both pressure- and tilt-sensitive, which allows you to create natural brush and marker effects that reveal your own unique style and technique. By varying your drawing pressure or the angle that you grip the pen, supporting software applications will allow you to vary line weights (the opacity and thickness of a line), direct paint flow and create many unique brush effects, like in real life.
The Benefits of Working Digitally
Working digitally on a Cintiq vs. working with traditional artist′s materials has many advantages, including: working in layers, compositing elements from several sources into a single image, scaling images or parts of an image, modifying colours and contrast, and the ability to undo and erase mistakes. For those who prefer to continue to work with traditional materials for some part of their process, working digitally can expand the creative possibilities and save time in the development of concepts. Those who use the Cintiq for their entire process, from concept to final artwork, often report significant improvements in their speed and, as any freelancer will tell you, time is money!
Create in Comfort
When compared to using a mouse, the natural drawing and painting movements that are used with a pen are a more comfortable and expressive way to create artwork. With a variety of adjustable display stand positions and the natural comfort of a pen, Cintiq users can fully focus on enjoying the creative process.
Using Both Hands
It′s natural to use two hands to perform tasks. Hold a nail with one hand while hammering with the other. Move and rotate cold press paper while painting and sponging in water colour. With digital, you can now zoom in and out, rotate, and move your canvas while drawing and painting interactively. A natural way of working is taken further with smart software and the combination of multi-touch and a pressure-sensitive pen.
Cintiq and Image Editing »
Natural and Fluid Pen Control
The natural fluency and control of a pen simplifies masks and selections of organic shapes such as faces, the human form, and nature. You can use the pressure-sensitive pen to brush in colour and tonal changes directly on the surface of digital images, varying the amount of the effect that is applied by changing how hard you press the pen to the tablet.
Discover new Tools in Photoshop
In Photoshop, tools transform themselves into entirely new and powerful versions of themselves with a Wacom pen attached – it′s the most powerful upgrade available for Photoshop and many other applications.
Colour Performance
Because Cintiqs are built for artists and designers, at the heart of all Cintiqs are LCD displays with ultra wide-viewing angles and high-quality colour performance. For those who work in colour-critical workflows, the advanced colour performance of the Cintiq 24HD and the stunning, life-like colour of the Cintiq 24HD touch, are ideal for colour-critical tasks such as prepress proofing or accurately displaying difficult colours, such as skin tones, to match prints.
Attention to Detail
Pan and zoom are a couple of the most common activities employed while creating and editing digital imagery. Using one hand to zoom and pan the image directly with multi-touch and working with Cintiq′s pressure-sensitive pen in your other hand to directly apply image effects or to create line art provides a comfortable, intuitive, and efficient way of working. Expand your fingers to quickly zoom into your work for detail and simply double tap the image to jump back to 100%. It′s easy to get to the detail you require to achieve high-quality results.
Cintiq in 2D to 3D Workflows »
2D Concepts
Sketching and exploring your ideas on the Cintiq is a great way to begin your workflow as the digital output can be used directly as the foundation for finished artwork, 3D models and animation.
3D Modeling
3D modelers enjoy the precise control of pushing and pulling points, sculpting and applying textures directly on the surface of a model with the Cintiq professional pen. Cintiq offers a highly realistic and immersive experience for sculpting in popular software such as Mudbox and ZBrush. Users of Autodesk® 3Ds Max and Maya also benefit from modeling with the pen, using the pressure-sensitive features in these applications for additional control in creating the final representation and animation of a model.
Animation
Users of Final Cut, Premiere Pro, After Effects and other editing applications appreciate the natural feel of editing on the Cintiq, while animators enjoy the creation and animation of characters in popular applications from Smith Micro® and Toon Boom®.
Visualisation
The final steps in visualisation often include the combination of 2D adjustments such as the addition of textures, colour adjustment, and the compositing of images to 3D models. For this final step, Cintiq users can use all the power of the pressure-sensitive features in popular creative applications and the fluid experience of working directly on screen to adjust and finalise their artwork.
